Mathu Vadalara 2 (translated as Drunk Leave) is a 2024 Telugu language crime comedy movie. It is directed by Ritesh Rana and is a sequel to the original Mathu Vadalara. The film brings back Sri Simha Koduri, Sathya and Vanela Kishore in their roles along with newcomers Faria Abdullah and Sunil.
After the first Mathu Vadalara became popular in 2019, many fans were excited for this sequel. Ritesh Rana, known for his funny style and use of memes, is directing again. The film is produced by Clap Entertainment and Mythri Movie Makers, with Chiranjeevi ‘Cherry’ Pedamallu and Hemlatha Pedamallu as producers.
Kala Bhairav Mathu, who composed the music for the first film, is back to compose the soundtrack for Vadalara 2.

Mathu Vadalara 2 Story:
Babu (Shri Simha Koduri) and Yesudas (Satya) are officers in a special team called HE under the leadership of their senior Nidhi (Faria Abdullah). They are given a case of kidnapping, which soon uncovers a big mystery involving the death of a young woman named Riya. As the investigation progresses, the HE team begins to suspect Babu and Yesudas of the crime. Who is Rhea? Are Babu and Yesudas guilty, or is someone setting them up? How do actors Yuva (Vanela Kishore) and Akash (Aakash) play this mystery? Watch the movie to find out.
Good Points:
The biggest highlight of the film is Satya, who shines with her excellent comedy and acting. His chemistry with Mr. Simha Koduri is fun to watch, and his imitation of megastar Chiranjeevi’s moves will surely please fans.
Mr. Simha Koduri does a good job in his role, and Faria Abdullah plays her role well. Sunil also does a good job, and the other actors play their roles effectively.
Vanela Kishore adds more fun with his brilliant acting, funny dialogues and perfect impersonation of well-known celebrities.
Weak Points:
Director Ritesh Rana makes it clear from the start that comedy is the focus, story takes a back seat. While Sathya’s humor works, a stronger story would have made the film more compelling.
The plot seems predictable and follows a familiar path. Jeevan and Sunil don’t get enough screen time and Sunil’s role could be funnier.
Rohini Moleti’s role doesn’t make much of an impact, as it doesn’t suit her talent. ‘Uri Na Kodaka’ scene could have been better and exciting.
Some dialogues and scenes don’t hit the mark, and the film would have been better with more creative and fresh ideas.

Technical Aspects:
Ritesh Rana’s direction and writing is decent but not his best work. A stronger story with Satya’s comedy would have created a better balance.
Cinematography by Suresh Sarangam, editing by Karthika Srinivas and music by Kala Bhairav are all good and help the film. The production quality is also solid and adds to the appeal of the film.
