Kalki 2898 A.D is an upcoming big-budget Indian film set in the distant future of 2898 AD. It is a blend of science fiction and Hindu mythology, directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswani Dutt. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and others along with Prabhas.
Originally called Project K, the film was announced in February 2020, but was delayed due to COVID-19. Filming began in July 2021 in Hyderabad and continued for three years.
The film is a massive project, costing approximately ₹600 crore (US$75 million), making it the most expensive Indian film to date. Santosh Narayanan is handling the music, Djordje Stojiljkovic is the cinematographer, and Nitin Jihani Chaudhary is in charge of the production design.
In an important milestone, Kalki 2898 – A.D. Became the first Indian film to be screened in “Hall-H” of San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. The official title and a glimpse of the film were revealed there.
