Before the release of the film, some students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) were angry about the preview of the film. They wanted action to be taken against the people and artists who made the film. Adah Sharma, who plays the role of a tough cop named Neeraj Mathur in the film, told in an interview to News 18 that she wanted to look strong and brave in her character. She wants the audience to believe every word she says in the film. Adah talked about a scene where her character talks about JNU students allegedly celebrating the killing of CRPF officers by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar. Sudipto Sen’s film “Bastar: The Naxal Story” was released in theaters on March 15. It has received mixed reviews and stars Adah Sharma, Indira Tiwari and Vijay Krishna.
