Bhakshak Movie Story & Review
In a small place called Munavwarpur in Bihar, two men from a small media team want to rescue young orphan girls from an evil shelter owned by a tough man named Bansi Sahu (played by Aditya Srivastava). But the police there is stuck due to corruption. Can these regular people withstand threats and pressure to stay sober and stay safe?
Director Pulkit wants to show the bravery of the small town heroes, even if they seem a bit naive. He wants to talk about how people care less in a world dominated by social media.
The story of the film is important and the lead actor has done a good job, but it feels like it is a story from the 90s. They repeatedly take the name of Bansi Sahu, but he does not seem that scary or powerful. And it seems like everyone knows them very easily. It is supposed to be an exciting investigation, but it lacks excitement and urgency. You don’t really connect with the characters or their struggles. Even Vaishali’s husband, who supports her, does not get enough time to share his concerns.
At one point, a female policeman tells Vaishali, “I can’t do anything without evidence.” But finding evidence is not just the job of journalists; The police should also do this. But the film does not show this.
Bhumi Pednekar is a credible actress and she plays strong women very well. His pronunciation is also good. It is his strong presence that fights against unfairness more than the script. Sanjay Mishra’s talents seem wasted, and Aditya Srivastava doesn’t really convince as the bad guy. Sai Tamhankar’s character could have been written in a better way.
The fight for justice in the film seems long and simple. You feel sorry for the trapped girls, but the movie doesn’t make you feel strongly about it.
