Bhediya (which means Wolf) is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language horror comedy movie directed by Amar Kaushik. It was produced by Dinesh Vijan and written by Niren Bhatt. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Banerjee, Deepak Dobriyal, and Paalin Kabak.
The story is based on a legend from Arunachal Pradesh about a shape-shifting werewolf called Yapum. This werewolf is dedicated to protecting the jungle, even if it means harming people. Bhediya is the third movie in the Maddock Supernatural Universe series.
Bhediya movie came out on November 25, 2022, and received positive reviews. People praised its visual effects, story, direction, humor, and how it improved the horror-comedy genre. Bhediya OTT Release Date
Bhediya film was released in theaters on November 25, 2022. It was also available in Telugu as Thodelu and in Tamil as Onai. Six months after its theatrical release, the film was released on Jio Cinema for streaming on May 26, 2023. It was available for free in Hindi and dubbed versions in Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
Bhediya Movie Storyline, Review and Plot
Bhaskar Sharma and his cousin Janardan “Jana” go to a small town in Arunachal Pradesh to work on a road construction project. They meet two local guides, Jomin and Panda, who tell them about the place. One night in the forest, Bhaskar is bitten from behind by a wolf. Dr. Anika, the town veterinarian, treats his wound.
The next day, Bhaskar notices strange changes: he can smell and hear much better and can even talk to animals. Meanwhile, the locals are upset about plans to cut down trees for the road. Two men working on the project are found dead with animal bite marks, indicating an animal attack. Panda believes a werewolf named Yapum is responsible.
It is later revealed that Bhaskar is the werewolf. Every night since the bite, he changes form and loses control. Jan and Jomin try to keep Bhaskar away from people. A local cop finds out and threatens to tell everyone, but the wolf that bit Bhaskar kills the cop. They go to an old doctor who says Bhaskar can be cured if the same wolf bites him again on a new moon night at the same spot.
Bhaskar, Jana, and Jomin go into the forest to find the wolf. Dr. Anika reveals that she is the werewolf who bit Bhaskar. She was bitten by a wolf a century ago and has been protecting the forest ever since, killing anyone who tries to destroy it. She bit Bhaskar with the intention of killing him but let him go because she saw kindness in him. She urges him to stop deforestation.
Dr. Anika is captured by the police, but Bhaskar, now a werewolf, saves her by killing the police. However, she is badly injured and falls off a cliff to her death. Bhaskar is heartbroken but takes up the role of protector of the forest. He decides to build roads around the forest while keeping the trees safe. Those who continue to plan the deforestation mysteriously die from animal attacks and the project comes to a halt.
In the mid-credits scene, Vicky and Bittu visit Jana, who is away from them to prepare for the UPSC exams. They need her help to find a ghost named Stree. Bhaskar as a werewolf appears and scares them away, indicating the possibility of more adventures in the future.
