Dilwale Movie Review & Story

In 2015, movies started cashing in on nostalgia for big bucks. Hollywood did this with films like “Jurassic World” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Their target was loyal fans and they made a lot of money. Bollywood followed with “Dilwale” directed by Rohit Shetty. The film’s title and casting evoked memories of the 1995 hit “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”.

But Dilwale tells a different story. It’s not just about romance like the original. Instead, it mixes family drama with crime. Shahrukh Khan plays the character of Raj, who used to be tough but now runs a car repair shop. His brother Veer, played by Varun Dhawan, gets involved in drugs while trying to impress a girl named Ishu, played by Kriti Sanon.

The film uses flashbacks to explain the characters’ backgrounds. When Kajol enters as Meera, it adds a familiar touch. Shahrukh Khan’s natural chemistry with both Kajol and Dhawan makes the family scenes genuine even amidst all the action.

Director Rohit Shetty has kept the action sequences crisp and exciting. But the film’s pace wanes in the second half due to its over-reliance on clichéd Bollywood songs. Although it’s great to see the stars reuniting, it also reminds us of tired formulas that need refreshing.
