Laapataa Ladies Movie Story & Review

Kiran Rao’s new film, Laapataa Ladies, marks her comeback 14 years after her debut film “Dhobi Ghat”. Unlike his previous horror portrayals, it is a mix of humor and social commentary set in rural India. It talks about women empowerment without blaming men.

The story, written by Biplab Goswami and Sneha Desai, revolves around relatable but flawed characters. Ravi Kishan shines as a morally ambiguous character. New faces also impress.

A standout moment is when Chhaya Kadam’s character, Manju, stands up against domestic violence and asserts her right to live without abuse.

The film challenges the stereotype of women being ‘very smart’ or ‘clever’. It encourages women to seek education and independence while rejecting old social norms.
