Career
To fulfill his dreams, Parmish Verma took a big decision to leave his job in Australia, where he settled with permanent residence. He returned to his hometown in Punjab to pursue his passion.
First he went to Mumbai to start his career in acting and direction. Within six months he got a lead role in a TV serial. However, he turned it down because he wanted to be more creative rather than being stuck in a stable job for two years. He went back to Punjab with the determination to do constructive work for the people there.
His first major project was a short film titled Jimmewadi Bhookh Te Doori – The Story of a Teenage Migrant. He wrote and directed this film inspired by his life struggles. The film went viral and received a very positive response from people in Punjab. Many Punjabi artists shared his film, which helped him gain recognition.
After this, Parmish got many offers to direct music videos, but initially it did not bring him much fame. His big break came from the music video of Ninja’s song “Thokda Reha”, which became a hit and established him as an accomplished video director in the Punjabi music industry.
Personal Life
Parmish Verma grew up in Patiala, Punjab. He went to Yadavindra Public School, Patiala but was not very good in studies. He started a hotel management course but left it due to lack of interest in it. He then moved to Australia to live with his aunt and worked as a waiter in a pub.
In an interview, Parmish said that his time in Australia was difficult. He worked long hours cleaning utensils and often had no money. But eventually his hard work paid off and he got a job as a sales manager in a fitness club. Even after this success, he decided to return to Punjab to fulfill his dream of becoming a filmmaker. This proved to be the best decision of his life.
Family
Parmish’s father, Dr. Satish Verma, teaches at the Punjabi University in Patiala and is a renowned Punjabi writer, poet and theater artist. His mother Dr. Paramjit Kaur also teaches in the same university. Parmish’s younger brother Sukhan Verma works with him as an assistant director.
Growing up in a family of teachers and artists helped Parmish a lot. It gave him a special perspective of the world and a solid foundation to fulfill his creative dreams.
Controversies and Incidents
Parmish Verma has been involved in several controversies and incidents:
Parmish had a heated argument with Gurjant Singh, a self-proclaimed preacher of Sikhism. Gurjant criticized Parmish for praising a music video featuring a dancing girl. Gurjant then started attacking Parmish’s work, religion and background. In response, Parmish defended himself and gave a strong reply.
Parmish was accused of copying ideas from other songs and using them in his music videos. Jagbani TV also released a video titled “Parmish Verma Exposed”, which showed the original video and the video allegedly copied by Parmish.
On April 13, 2018, at around 12:30 am, Parmish and his friend Laddi were chased and shot by unknown assailants in Sector 91, Mohali. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Fortis Hospital. While the police were still investigating, gangster Dilpreet Singh Dhahan claimed responsibility for the attack on his Facebook account. Dhahan was arrested by Haryana Police on April 15, 2018 from Solan district of Himachal Pradesh.
