Secret Superstar is a 2017 Indian film. It is about a girl who loves singing and uploads her songs to YouTube, hiding her face with a scarf. The film talks about things like girls’ rights, justice for all, and how families treat each other. Critics loved the film and lead actress Zaira Wasim won awards for her performance. At the Filmfare Awards, the film was nominated for ten awards and won three. This is the second time Zaira Wasim and Aamir Khan have worked together, after the success of Dangal.
Secret Superstar made a lot of money, even though it didn’t cost much to make. It earned ₹9.05 billion (that’s about $154 million) worldwide, while costing just ₹150 million ($2.3 million) to make. That’s a huge return on investment! It is the highest-grossing Indian film with a female lead, the most successful Hindi film of 2017, and one of the best Hindi films of all time. It is also one of the biggest Indian films overseas. In China, it is the fifth-highest-grossing foreign film of 2018 and the second-most successful non-English foreign film, after Dangal.
