Stree 2: Sarkte Ka Atank (meaning Woman 2: Terror of the Headless) is a 2024 Hindi comedy horror film. Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, this is Maddock’s fifth film. Supernatural universe and follows Stree (2018). The film stars Rajkumar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurrana. The story is about a group of friends who need to stop a dark force kidnapping women in Chanderi town.
Kaushik wanted to make a sequel to Stree starting in October 2018. As of February 2022, Rao confirmed that the film was in progress, but original producers Raj and DK left the project due to franchise rights issues. Niren Bhatt then took over as writer. A sequel was officially announced in April 2023 by Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande. Filming began in July 2023, mostly in Chanderi and Bihar, and was completed by mid-2024. Music was composed by Sachin-Jigar and Justin Varghese. Jishnu Bhattachari handled the cinematography and Hemanti Sarkar handled the editing.
The film hit the theaters on 15 August 2024 and received good reviews. It grossed over ₹655 crore at the box office, making it the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2024, the top Hindi film of the year, and the ninth-highest-grossing Hindi film of all time.
