Alpha Beta Gamma is an Indian romantic comedy movie directed by newcomer Shankar Srikumar and featuring Nishan, Amit Kumar Vashisth, and Reena Aggarwal. The story and script are penned by Menka Sharma and Shankar. Jithin Raj, Mona Shankar, Thomas Punnoose, and Menka Sharma produce the film. It’s a collaboration between Choti Film Productions & Knownsense Entertainment.
Kartik Kumar Bhagat serves as the cinematographer, while Biplaab Dutta handles the soundtrack and score. Prassanna Vishwanathan is responsible for the background score.

Introduction
The movie had its world premiere at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in Goa, showcased in the Indian Panorama section on 24th November 2021. It marks the debut for many involved in the project. Among 221 submissions, Alpha Beta Gamma was one of only two Hindi films selected for the Indian Panorama feature film category.
The project was first reported in 2020. The movie was filmed in Pune during the COVID-19 outbreak with a small team. Most of the crew and cast are from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.
Alpha Beta Gamma takes place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Mitali, a woman, finds herself stuck in an apartment with her estranged husband, Chiranjeev, and her boyfriend, Ravi, for two weeks. As they deal with the struggles of being in lockdown together, they realize that moving on from the past might be harder than they thought.
Alpha Beta Gamma premiered at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in the features film category of the ‘Indian Panorama’ section for showing in November. The film will also be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in the Marché du Film section held alongside the festival’s 2022 edition on 22 May at Palais des Festivals, where India was announced as the official ‘country of honor’.
Release Date
In February 2024, the trailer was released and the film hit theaters on 8 March 2024. It was released in Mumbai, Delhi, and Pune. The film is distributed by Agastaya Jain (Creators Retina), 70mm Talkies, and Samant Chauhan.
Movie Review
Abhishek Srivastava of The Times of India gave it 3.5/5 stars and said, “Alpha Beta Gamma offers lots of creative possibilities for both the writer and the filmmaker, and, thankfully, the film succeeds for the most part and remains interesting throughout. Shankar brings a fresh twist to the classic theme of triangular relationships, relying heavily on how characters react to different situations. He manages to keep viewers interested, navigating the complexities skillfully.”
Devesh Sharma of Filmfare also gave it 3.5/5 stars, calling it a “relationship storm” and a modern interpretation of urban relationships. He said, “Alpha Beta Gamma was filmed during the pandemic with limited resources, and that actually works in the film’s favor. The sound design is raw and simple, giving the feeling of something captured inside a real apartment rather than in a studio. The camera work adds to the feeling of being closed in. The characters and their arguments, frustrations, and the stories they share with each other feel like they’re taken from real life. The dialogue sounds like real conversations.”
