Its sequel, Drishyam 2 is slated for release in 2021, produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Ashirvad Cinemas. The story revolves around Georgekutty and his family, who become suspicious when Varun Prabhakar, son of police officer Geeta Prabhakar, goes missing.

Filming began in October 2013 in Thodupuzha. Sujith Vasudev handled the cinematography and Ayub Khan edited the film. Anil Johnson and Vinu Thomas composed the music.

A Sinhala version, Dharmayuddaya, was released in 2017, and a Mandarin Chinese remake, Sheep Without a Shepherd, was released in 2019. This made it the first Indian film to be remade in mainland China. An Indonesian version was announced in September 2021, becoming the first Indian film to be remade in Indonesia.
