Sam Bahadur Movie Story & Review

Sam Bahadur is a film about the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. It shows how India conquered and created Bangladesh. The main character is Sam Maneksha, who leads India to victory and later retires.

The film stars Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, Govind Namdev and Mohammad Jeeshan Ayub. The film hit the theaters on the same day, 1st December, as another movie titled “Animal” starring Ranbir Kapoor.

The story of Sam Manekshaw’s life is one of bravery, resilience and smart thinking. He started his journey in 1934 from the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun. He was among the first group of cadets there, and among them was Tikka Khan, who later became his rival.

After graduation, Manekshaw joined the 12th Frontier Force Regiment in Firozpur as a second lieutenant. His courage during World War II earned him the Military Cross for his bravery at the Battle of Sittang Bridge.

When India gained independence in 1947, Manekshaw chose to serve in the Indian Army despite being offered to join the Pakistani Army. He played a key role in securing Kashmir for India during partition.

Manekshaw’s career continued to grow. He became Commandant of the Defense Services Staff College in Wellington, where he showed strong leadership skills. Despite setbacks during the India-China War in 1962, he was promoted to Lieutenant-General and given command of IV Corps at Tezpur.

During the preparations for the India-Pakistan war of 1971, Manekshaw showed wisdom and caution and advised against rushing into conflict. Despite the pressure, he waited until India was prepared before leading the army to a decisive victory.

After his retirement in January 1973, Manekshaw was promoted to Field Marshal by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in recognition of his outstanding service to the nation. His legacy as a brave and strategic leader will continue to inspire generations.
