Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai Storyline, Review, Plot

As a lawyer fighting against a powerful Baba accused of raping a minor, Bajpayee plays PC Solanki with a mix of strong principles and guile. His fan-like admiration is evident when he meets the famous lawyers defending Guru, but he becomes serious and focused when he argues his case.

Directed by Apoorva Singh Karki and inspired by the real-life Asaram Bapu case, the film “Sirf Ek Banda Kafi Hai” has a talented cast who handles the delicate subject matter well. Written by Deepak Kingrani, the film follows Solanki’s determined efforts to get justice for a teenager who has accused Baba (played by Surya Mohan Kulshrestha) of rape.

This legal drama available on ZEE5, adds additional drama to an already intense story. Solanki walks into the courtroom confidently, relying on his deep understanding of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. His victory is celebrated with dramatic drumbeats and his closing speech is highly emotional, as if he is speaking on an important historical event.

However, Solanki’s quieter moments are more memorable. While he remains loyal to his client, Bhagwan visits several different lawyers, each more egotistical than the last. These characters are designed to thwart the story, and Solanke often gives a light, mocking smile as if saying, “Did you hear that shit?” Bajpayee is excellent in these scenes and shows his contempt for those he considers beneath him.

The 132-minute film feels surprisingly calm despite the serious events it depicts. It does not delve deeply into the cult that wields criminal power over its leader. The heavy burden on the victim’s family to prove rape is barely touched upon, while Solanki’s domestic life is shown more.

Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai makes it clear that the film focuses on the crusading lawyer and not on the brave teenager and her family who lodged a police complaint. Casting Bajpayee ensures that the film tells its story effectively, but it doesn’t leave a strong impact.
